HE3776 Purchased 29/10/2000

We have bought Hunslet Austerity No.3776 from the Princess Risborough & Chinnor Railway. We are especially pleased to acquire this particular engine as it worked in Lancashire our native county for some years.

The engine is in pretty good order but needs repairs to the firebox tubeplate flange before we can use it.

The photo below shows the cab layout on HE3776, simple controls well laid out, this is what made the Austerity such a popular engine with drivers, you could drive from either side of the cab and lean out and watch the shunter whilst still in control of the engine

The history of No.8 is on the next page.We have dismantled the cab fittings and have removed the tubes to enable our boiler inspector to survey the boiler and advise on repairs to the firebox lap joint.

No.8 arrived at the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Railway on Tuesday 5th December. It was delivered to Priors Lane PW Dept and towed to Embsay on 5th December by Class 20.
